The Kothi
House.
Location
New Delhi
Year
2023
Area
4,500 sq ft
Scope
Renovation + Interiors
01 / The Brief
An old house,
made to breathe.
A family inherited a 1960s kothi with dark rooms and a closed courtyard. They wanted to live in it, not preserve it.
We kept the arches and the staircase, opened the roof to the sky and let the jali screens do the work of curtains.

The arched passage
02 / The Approach
Keep what
still works.

The courtyard is reopened and every room faces it.

The Material
Original sandstone, lime wash and restored teak joinery.
